Talk LeSS 2023 | Tomasz Wykowski | Lean Software Development – what can we learn from Toyota?

How can concepts from factories be used by knowledge workers? Or maybe, these two words differ too much?

Toyota Production System (often called Lean) is well known in the West since the 1980s. However, many companies still struggle to apply these ideas to more creative areas of knowledge management, such as software development, sales, or marketing.

For over a decade, Tomasz has been learning Lean tools, practices, and principles and translating them into his customers’ context. He had a chance to visit the market leaders and learn their success and failure stories. He spoke with their first-line employees, managers, and CEOs in his quest to better understand how to create successful organizations.

During his talk, he’ll share stories, and specific tools, and show how they can be applied to manage non-physical work, such as software development, especially in the context of large-scale. You’ll leave this session knowing how to look for inefficiencies in your system and what to do about them.
